I think throughout this entire journey of complete my magazine final from start to finish sports illustrated has  by far been my biggest inspiration. When I personally think of magazine I think of sports illustrated, They covers provide so much variety i was able to use as refrence and exmaples. Not to mention that they are also the pinnacle of Sports magazines.

analyzing spreads

F o n t : " #40 " Number Massive, blocky, and semi-transparent font in the background serves as a graphic anchor to the entire right-hand page. Bold and angular, the style mimics  jersey numbers , reinforcing the sports theme and the player’s identity. Creates visual depth by overlapping with the action image of Hillis. " PEYTON HILLIS " Name Heavy uppercase sans-serif font , commanding attention and emphasizing strength and presence. White text on an orange background provides strong contrast and visual clarity. The staggered placement, with the first and last name separated by line, gives it impact and rhythm .

C o l o r Analysis: Black Background The black backdrop gives the spread a serious, gritty, and playoff-level intensity . It enhances the brightness of the jerseys and the text, creating sharp contrast and visual drama. Team Colors Miami is associated with red and white , emphasizing heat, aggression, and energy. Boston is paired with green and white , symbolizing tradition, unity, and toughness. The opposing color schemes reflect the clash of identities and amplify the rivalry. The photos of the Heat’s Big Three (Wade, Bosh, LeBron) and the Celtics’ core (Garnett, Allen, Pierce) dominate each page. These images face each other, mimicking a face-off, reinforcing the idea of a standoff or rematch. Players’ backs are turned, emphasizing team names and jersey numbers a clever way to showcase identity without needing facial expressions.
